Blind Dinner at Browntrout (Browntrout - Chicago, IL): Served blind. There was a lot of conversation about this being from California because of the eucalyptus that was coming through on the nose, but I think that the dark fruit and earthy/cedary notes got me thinking about Graves. Way off...but this was a lovely bottle that showed incredibly well. Leeuwin Estates is certainly a top producer in Western Australia - I think every bottle I've tried has been fantastic.

Blind Dinner at Browntrout (Chicago, IL): Served blind. Clearly Bordeaux varietals, but a good dose of herbal green notes (and eucalyptus) had me thinking Napa cabernet from the late '80s to early '90s, made by a relatively old-school producer. The vanilla on this seemed to indicate American oak, so I toyed with Ridge Monte Bello, but this was much more fruit forward than that.

BBQ Wines at Tim's: Herbs, smoke, cedar, blackcurrant and spice. The palate is medium bodied while still having herbal notes and with quite a bit of tannin remaining. There is something interesting going on here and I can't quite say I love it but it did hold my attention.

Holding up surprisingly well. Plenty of dark red/black fruit, with some tobacco notes and some lingering sharp tannins. On the downside, the oak is starting to show through and isn't entirely integrated.
