Much improved and more accessible since our last tasting 20+ months ago. Not a lot of complexity but well built. Chocolate cherries, chocolate mocha - lots of chocolate everywhere on the nose and palate - with sprinkles of raspberries, blackberries, and plums. Herbs, soy, coffee, tobacco, and eucalyptus balance out the sweeter flavors. Very well balanced and seems to be in a prime window - I did not need to decant. Paired with pizza but the pizza was marrying up. Drink 2019-2024. Technical score: 91. Enjoyment score: 93.

Fun merlot. A little unexpected on the palate: tart chary and chocolate (not surprising), but also white pepper, especially after 2 hours in the decanter. For some reason this was listed as "drink by 2017," but that was clearly not correct; this wine has years left. I will update the drinking window to 2022.

Still quite young. Needed 3+ hours to open up, Dark chocolate, cherries, mint, blackberries, and olives. Drink after 2019. Technical score: 90. Enjoyment score: 88.

There is a sumptuous complexity at the mid-palate.
