This may be the best chianti classico I have had. It is drinking wonderfully right now - a very balanced yet complex wine with cherry overtones and soft tannins. Everything about it is good, unlike many chianti's that are thin or not clear in the intensity of their fruit. It may still have a couple years left - I have another bottle and will try to put it off for awhile.

Drinking very well. Decanted half bottle 30 mins, drank other half without decant. Wine morphed--more air time brought out aged red fruit layer--bit of plum, more leather and earth. Still some very fresh cherry to be found--from the non decanted wine especially. Quite good, moderately rich, mid length palate, moderate tannin, well integrated.

Slightly aged, brick color. Nose is very savoury - garlic, soy sauce and onion powder with choke cherry brightness. On the palate, ummami, soy sauce, aromatic herbs, sour cherry, strawberry and chocolate on the finish. Nice mouthfeel and long finish. Tart acidity and powdery tannins on the finish. This wine evolves with every mouthful... has the potential to age. Will probably stash a 1/2 case away for 5 years and see how it develops. Very good with food. 90-92.
