  • Friday Dinner at our Place (Our House, Hong Kong): Gosh....it's been 10 years since I last drank a bottle from this case and his improved a lot. Semi-opaque but slightly fading Morello Cherry red colour which is still fresh-looking. Really elegant and enjoyable nose of classic woodland wild strawberries, sous bois and some cow barn....very Burgundian. The palate still has good depth of moderately sweet ripe strawberry, black cherry, some cola, bitter black chocolate and some spiciness. Well balanced and excellently crafted. Reasonable length and very satisfying. A great example of the longevity of the best Central Otago Pinot Noirs.....this has at least 5-7 years' more life in it. Drank it alongside the 2001, which is still going strong.

  • Clear brick color. Strawberries, earth and smoke and meaty aromas. Raspberry and strawberry fruit on palate, plus some grilled meat. Smooth tannins, medium acidity, and full bodied. Very good.

  • Dad started this yesterday and didn't gas it overnight. Balance tasted just fine this evening, which impressed me as I didn't expect this would hold up overnight.

  • I've enjoyed this in the past but it just didn't do it for us last night. The faint cola and soft effervesence on the aftertaste didn't seem right, and not in line with my recollection about prior bottles. Not Rated

  • Drank a couple of glasses after a midweek dinner at home. Really excellent. Deep Morello Cherry red colour with great clarity. Restrained but elegant and enjoyable nose although still a touch too much alcohol. Classic Central Otago black cherry, black coffee and wild strawberries palate with great balance of tannin, acidity, sweetness and fruit with little obvious oak. Hints of toffee, liquorice and mushrooms start to emerge with time in the glass. Well balanced and excellently crafted. Reasonable length but a little weedy compared to the palate. A bit austere for some tastes but for me it cements its place in the top 5 of Central Otago Pinot Noirs.
