85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. Although probably disapproved by Vino Nobile purists, this blend really works, with black fruit, plummy, ripe red fruit, dried herbs, milk chocolate and an elegant oak spice overlay. The nose is medium (+) to pronounced in intensity and still developing. The palate is dry, consistent with the nose but with more of an emphasis on tart red cherry, with medium (+) acidity, smooth, refined, medium tannins and medium alcohol (13.5%). This wine is surprisingly youthful at almost 15 years of age and is likely to continue to drink well through at least 2023. One of the best Vino Nobile di Montepulciano that I have ever had, this single vineyard bottling saw a little over a year in new French and American oak barriques and four years of further aging in the bottle before release. A remarkable product.

Anteprima Vino Nobile Montepulciano - 25 TN inside! (Montepulciano (Si)): Some Cab. Sauv. and Merlot joining this Sangiovese. The result at the moment is not terrific. Some vegetal hints at nose, but not very fine. Powerful, but without personality at taste.
