Lots of development since I last enjoyed this wine 6-1/2 years ago. Decanted and enjoyed with a chargrilled, medium rare ribeye. Aromas and flavors lead with cinnamon spice, black currant, black plum, chewy blackberry, black cherry, loamy earth, black coffee and mushroom. Latter stages of development or early maturity. Structure is well integrated with tannin and acid providing balance. Solid medium plus finish. Drink now or within the next 2-3 years, unlikely to improve with further cellaring. Given the vintage, I expected this to be fading, but this is showing plenty of life.

Like many of the 2011 Napa cabs, more savory than fruit-driven, with tighter tannins, than the same bottling in a warmer vintage. Also, strikes me as less complex than the Lewis Mason’s from other vintages. Pleasant, with a smooth finish.
