  • Grabbed the last bottle off retail shelf for $15 - a steal. This wine is still fresh and grippy. Mellow flavors of peach lemon and hint of caramel. Good acidity, medium dark straw color, and viscous mouth feel. Drank as an aperitif, and it shines, but it really wants to go with food. Still going strong and I almost feel like I've robbed the cradle.

  • This wine is a treat!......citrus, oak, peach skin , toasted almonds and faint floral characters wedded to a full bodied backbone of clean acidity and minerals....all you need to know!....aging well.

  • Wow!....This " second wine" of Ch. Smith Haute Lafitte is showing real class.
The oak and fruit have woven together into a pleasing blend .
On nose:oak , vanilla and fresh grapefruit
On palate: follow through of the above flavours + toasted almonds, peach skin , meyer lemon even a hint of dry toasted coconut and caramelized barley sugar....minerality and acid are in balance in this surprisingly fleshy Sauv/ Sem blend....a suitable competitor to the grand vin blanc!.....went well with roast chicken , Jasmine rice and green beans.

  • This wine has evolved a great deal since first tasted in early 2015.
Nose of prominent oak, softened by peach skin and Meyer lemon.
On palate, smoke, almonds, and Meyer lemon oak and vanilla still prominent ( but not overbearing).... . Full bodied, has put on some weight since 2 years ago, due to the judicious oak aging.... . not sure if more fruit will show with more age, but drinking well now to accompany Sea Bass, Trout and Salmon dishes.
