  Excellent, and qualitatively right in line with a '99 tried recently. Still fairly youthful in appearance, aromatics, and palate, with some secondary components mixed in. Earthy and fairly meaty. Good acidity. Should hold and perhaps even improve for several more years.

  Colour was limpid but quite light with tawny hints. Initially the nose and palate seemed overblown with some attractive cherry and kirsch notes veering towards stewed prunes and there was a shortage of freshness and structure. However, as the bottle emptied and was exposed to more air, the wine seemed to refine, liven up, lengthen and integrate better with the stewed elements receding; I would still have appreciated more backbone but it became good +. However, I look for more from a grand cru.

  Superb, elegant pinot. Right in the sweet spot, showing beautiful fruit, resolved tannin, stones and forest floor. Loved it down to the last drop.
