Similar observations to those of Jerm - in my case comparing the 2006 to the 2007. I don't want to overemphasise the alcohol but 2.7 percentage points less clearly shows. The 2006 tastes like a completely different wine really. The nose is less sweet and fruit-driven, much more spices and herbal notes, aniseed, earth, tea, almost elegant and quite evolved. On the palate pretty closed and tight, drying tannins, good structure and fruit, nothing jammy or heavy, still full-bodied and powerful of course. This needs a bit more time and I preferred it stylistically to the 2007 but it lacks some of its voluptuousness and exuberance. Good future. 94-95+

(Mich&Bo@LangtonsVI) [bottle 331] Whew, at 14.6%, a welcome relief from the monster 17.6% in 2005! Aromatic chinese herbs (angelica root), prunes, funky barnyard and rich plummy fruits. Beautifully concentrated palate and equally congruent with the nose - juicy sweet, rigid, tall and unmoving. Much more refined and introspective than the 2005, having some airyness about it. But do not be fooled - this is still a significant wine of power and complexity! Finishes interesting with damp newspaper ink.
