Chris Ringland pop-up tasting (Terroir Tribeca): Lots of cracked black peppers. Again intense but the red fruits come across as a bit pretty. Again more plum. More cranberry. A hint of sharpness. Needs a lot more time.

I didn't think I would come across this rare wine again but there you go. Very dark in colour, slightly purple and glossy. Very concentrated cherry fruit on the nose, sweet and generous with notes of menthol, spices, smoked meat. On the palate massive and rich, the acidity is outstanding. Round tannins. A bit of heat, but overall surprisingly well balanced. Very long and lingering. It is wine on steroids but unquestionably very well made. Approachable, but should improve with more bottle age. 93-94+

Magnificent burnt earth is the initial impression which is followed by immense length. The integration is always harmonious and the 17pct alcohol blends seamlessly into the experience.

The best wine I ever drank to date. Explosive nose with exotic spices, chocolate, black berries, sandalwood, flowers, tobacco leaves. The palate is bursting of body and statue. A bombardment with intense flavors such as espresso, chocolate, raspberries, crushed peppers, bacon, blueberry compote and more. The finish goes on for minutes. The high alcohol is very well absorbed and the tannins are as smooth as it gets. Chapeau Chris Ringland. Drunk in a three star restaurant. The sommelier had the wine opened hours before we arrived. Not sure what he else did with the wine, but when it was poured into my glass, heaven approached.

A little closed and restrained at first but with some time in the glass revealing lots of ripe, rich fruit, mocha, earth, spices, wood smoke. The fruit is very concentrated and a little jammy. On the palate again enormous concentration, sweet fruit, voluptuous, powerful, huge. Firm tannic structure, good texture and mouthfeel with good acidity and great mineral backbone towards the powerful, long, chocolate-coated-cherry finish. This is a monster of a wine, a real blockbuster, and although it is impressively well balanced I felt it was a little over the top. The 17.2% alcohol is showing. Too young and quite tight now, this should age well. 93-94+(+?)
