{cork, 13.5%} Garnet / brick. Cool cabernet; leafy herbs, a nod to currants, a touch of fresh compost; probably fruity by old-world standards, but clearly aged, despite the intensity. Fairly rich nose, none-the-less. The palate doesn't quite live up to it; the tannins are now very soft and furry, the wine is dry verging on skeletal, with something of a mid-palate hole; about medium-length finish. With enough time in the decanter (this had two hours), becomes sweetly rotting; attractive enough in a lascivious way, without showing great depth or complexity. At peak - or possibly beyond; with the caveat that this was an auction-sourced bottle of unknown provenance; ideal storage may have served it better...

A great party bottle at Stuart and Lisa Harker's house on Saturday night 2 weeks ago. Lovely youthful wine. Fruity and full. Had with crab bisque, beef burg pies and fish pies. Made the 1998 St Henri look thin and dry.

Pretty dark colour, and not much ageing. Strong cedar nose, though settled to show some blackcurrant too. The palate was very rich and sumptuous with a real whoosh of fruit after an initial delay, with a long spirity sort of finish. Someone really got it when describing this as christmas pudding. Seemed quite alcoholic despite it's labelled 13.5% abv. Despite all this it was actually rather enjoyable, if young. Hard to see where it might go though.
