  • No decant - which was the right decision. Translucent lovely deep ruby colour. Nose is lovely damp red earth, dessicated red plums, dried figs, soft fresh dates, hints of dried star anise. Palate is typical old Aussie high acidity with lovely soft and velvety mouthfeel, still quite distinct red and black berries fruit. Light to medium body and length. Fully mature and on that super secondary/tertiary seesaw as we savoured it over a leisurely Cohiba ‘Talisman’ 2017 Edition Limitada cigar. This bottle still had a lot of life about it but we were likely lucky. Thanks, Daniel!

  • Good colour on this. Not showing its age.
Green peppers, like a Loire Cab Franc, and mint on the nose, good freshness.
Like on the palate with tannin still a little firm, light and fading a bit, but still showing some fruit and there's a little toasty oak too.
Should have been drunk years ago but if you like old wines like I do, you'll find a lot to enjoy here.

  • From a double magnum, this one was ready to drink. Probably picked ity off the shelf before it dropped off the shelf. Coonawarra fruit from red clay soils obvious - just a flavour that is very distinctive, hard from a layman to put words to, but those who have drunk plenty of Coonawarr cabs will nod in agreement. Fruit was rich but subtle from age and with an essence of terrior/earth, rich but not minerally (all though that word isn't from the "Oxford"). Very enjoyable. Wine for Ceci's early 40th birthday.

  • Lovely colour out to rim, ruby hued; sweet, dusty fruit, cedar & latera leafy note, talcum powder; soft yet has substance & depth; fully mature, superb balance & extÕd length. 17Brighter yet paler than Montrose Ô70; chunky, cherried fruit, slightly high toned; ripe fruit, raspberries, marked acidity which ends dominant; long. score 16 (just)

  • Leafy, with tobacco and leather on the nose. Palate has very good integration of components. Ready to drink.
