Prior bottle was almost 14 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Mostly black cherry on the nose, along with bits of red cherry, earth and floral notes. Between medium and full bodied with mostly black cherry now upfront, supported by red cherry. Still shows a bit of roundness versus brightness mix, but overall, felt more open and accessible. Mid-body brings in darker black cherry and plum and just like my prior bottle, as it opens up, shows some very pretty elegance and silkiness. Tart black and red cherry towards the back, balanced tannins and acidity provide structure and support the fruit. Minerals, earth and spices through the finish. This has held up quite well, but perhaps hasn't moved forward positively as I thought/hoped it would. That said it's still drinking quite well, but I'll plan to open my last bottle in Fall 2024.

On the palate, it is above all the purity of the fruit that catches the attention, with these floral aromas. The profile of the wine is very feminine and young so that I cannot find the markers of Sangiovese. The wine is pleasant, sapid, but for all that, although I recognize the vaporous profile of the estate, 2010 is less accomplished than recent vintages, which are more structured and complex. The underlying acidity brings a lot of liveliness, especially on the finish, but the length is just okay, it lacks length.
A good Brunello.

Decanted for around one hour and then drunk over the next 2-3. Expecting big things from this, but the bottle felt slightly flat. All the pleasure of Sangiovese (plenty of bright fruit, excellent with food), without any subtlety or complexity - this drank at the level of a fairly decent Chianti Classico costing less than half the price. I would expect these to be around peak now, but not on this showing.

The 2010 vintage continues to deliver and a steal at the $48 I paid for this. A lighter style BdM, less oak and leather. Lots of red cherry, dried flowers, leather.

Bottle Ex domaine.
