Upon opening we had a slight mishap with the cork, but we decided to go ahead anyway and thankfully there was no real issue.
Much darker and closed than the Clos du Chateau upon opening (and we opened it at the same time) - this needed the air to open up and start showing its beauty. Still structured and I'd say tight, and I feel that this was still slightly too young to enjoy properly. This will become a better wine than the CdC alongside it, but needs more time to age. I see upside, and would love to revisit in 3+ years to see where it's at.
A pleasure to drink with Steen & M in Burgundy - already looking forward to the return.

Shared w/ friends and the inimitable Neal Rosenthal in NYC. For me WOTN, closely beating out the '95 Rene Engel Clos de Vougeot and a notable style evolution next to the '09 CLB Chaumes. This is oh so Louis-Michel - big and flamboyant with an absolute kaleidoscope of aromas underpinned by an unmistakable Vosne earthiness stepping into some Asian spice notes of raw star anise. Microscopic tannins grip on for minutes and the weight and substance is something to marvel at. Peak CLB, peak Vosne, peak Burg.

Side by side 07 Reignots (which probably wasn't the best of bottles) this 12 showed really well as always with it's sexy dark cherry fruit with immense intensity, great balance though no heat, super energy and minerality. What was maybe a bit surprising that it felt like it shut down with air as the evening went on. So I would probably think it's time to let those slumber for a few years if you have them.

Everything is restrained and delicate. Be careful or you’ll miss it all. A touch rustic barnyard, bit of graham cracker, white lillies and a sprinkling of rose water. No real fruit to speak of, perhaps a touch of cran-raspberry. Shutdown perhaps?
