  • Single blind. More closed and stubborn than the wide-open Barbaresco side-by-side. Rich, dense, burly with firm and coarse sandpaper-like tannin. Seems like what you might think 2010 Barolo would taste like at this stage. Upside from here - bury this in the cellar.

  • Barbaresco vs. Barolo (Chicago, IL): Served single blind. Along with the Barbaresco, surprisingly mature for the vintage (in hindsight). This felt a little lighter than the Maria di Brun. Additionally, it was a little more wound up, and showed more acid and seemingly a bit more long-term aging potential. A distinctly grainy and pronounced tannic structure made me think this was the Barolo of the flight.

  • Opened 10:00 pm day before for a slow ox. At 3:00 pm next day good nose but still tight. Decanted. At 5:00 tried again. Lost the nose. By 8:00 much better, finally unwinding with cherry cola, some tar and sous bois. Still dry tannins on the finish.

Not recommended to buy, but if you have it suggest to hold for another 5+ years.
