The color is still holding very well with only a very slight noticeable bricking just starting to happen. Beef bullion and tar on the nose. Bright acidic bing cherries, smoke, graphite, and with some drying tannins which shows up on the finish. Quite enjoyable and very different from more current versions of this, as this is more lighter bodied. On a nice plateau but I don't see them getting better with further aging. A real treat to try an older Douro wine I've never had before. 88 Points

Dark red with heavy legs. Dark fruits on the nose with a big slug of alcohol. Meaty. The palate is full and meaty, dark fruits with a long finish and quite acidic. With time a liquorice edge becomes apparent. It is in all a good balanced wine.

Mid-deep red with no obvious signs of ageing. Rich fruit nose - sweet, confectionary, creamy. Delicious nose. In the mouth this is a big wine - very fruity. After 90 minutes there is more alcohol on the nose - liquorice and fruit. The palate adds meat to all that. Good stuff.

Full fruity nose - hot, cinammon, alcoholic and a long tail. It worked well with the food. It ecentually mellowed into a S France like wine with good hints of chocolate and caramel. Lovely.

Lovely full and fruity. Needed the decanting. Rich and smooth and still years in it.
