  • Root Day - decanted off a fairly substantial amount of sediment - both glass coating and light. Showing mature garnet in colour at the core with some mahogany at the rim. Nose is very rustic and developed with a bouquet of damp earth, shoe polish, old leather, dried red flowers and a bit of potpourri. On the palate it’s smooth but with still some ripe, rustic tannins and medium plus acidity. The flavours are matured but not over ripe nor dried red and black fruit, black licorice, old leather, pipe tobacco and a touch of spice. The finish is very pleasing and long with the fruit, tobacco and spice continuing.

  • Right at its peak, good to drink now, may not age well much further.
Developed with very floral nose, full bodied but soft tannins and great acidity. Very balanced. Great wine!

  • Nose a bit alcoholic, matured dark fruits. Full bodied with good structure, good acidity and long finish. If the alcohol could be more contained this would be a great wine.

  • Decanted and poured. Dark red, yellow rim, 5. Delicious mature nose, ripe fruit, difficult to put into words but much like a tuscan red. Well balanced on the palate, harmonious, tannins perfectly integrated, elegant finish. Drink now-2016. What a positive surprise. I remember the first bottle consumed several years ago as one dimensional and having too much new oak. This has certainly been integrated very well. The last third of the wine was saved until the next day when it was just as fine.

  • Quite lively but still deep and luscious. This does feel a little on the young side but I'm sure I remember earlier bottles (this year) seeming a little tired.
