Evolved but not oxydized, the nose is powerful with ripe fruits, honey and still some wood notes, rather monolithic and dominated by wood. Palate shows power and concentration, fat and wide but in balance. Good but a bit show-off to my taste (too ambitious wood treatment to be absorbed by the juice that year)?

Fresher and with more purity than the 1996 drunk with Clive a few weeks ago. Simply superb nose with smoky hazelnut along exotic fruits and lemon notes. Med to full body, it is fat but never flabby thanks to a good acidity. In my opinion a perfect balance, the palate matching the nose and a long finish. Very well done.

Another Casual Burgundy Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Good color, good condition. Shockingly vibrant and bright apple aromas and flavors. clearly ripe, but good overall balance and persistence.
