  • The Chandon de Briailles Corton Grand Cru 2012 was a disappointment. Five years ago, the wine I had opened the night before the tasting had already collapsed by the time of the tasting. Here, you could feel it in the glass during the tasting. The rather intense yellow wine smelled of pome fruit, quince and some candy, on the palate initially with power, pressure and juice, then more and more toffee, extract sweetness, becoming increasingly waxy. In the process, the Corton increasingly lost its acid structure and became broader and broader. I have tasted many good to excellent wines from this winery, but this wine simply failed in both tastings. That is not nice for the price of € 160.

  • Some tide pool here! Apricot and tarragon and weighty heft, but so alive. This is showing really nice just now, even if it probably has more to give.
