The age was right and all the characteristics of this Lagrein (Syrah family) were in place. Soft tannins, dark fruit and earth. Good with food as I had tonight with lightly spicy italian red sauce over pasta.

Memories from dinner a week+ ago. Really impressive upfront, with glossy plums and currants and a black licorice element, but flat on the back end. A little more savoryness would go a long way. ~90

Delicious. Purple in the glass, significant glass staining, aromatic nose, full bodied palate with velvety tannins, black tea, balanced ripe fruit, cherry, plum, hint of herbaceousness and spice on and a very long finish.

As noted by the previous reviewer this is very Syrah like wine (they are in the same family by the way). New world Washington style. Alto adige is a unique area near the Alps. Temperature inversion gives the Lagrein grapes an opportunity to ripen. Good Syrah characteristics. I enjoyed it with italian Sauusage and pasta.

Inky purple in the glass. Resembles new world Syrah, with deep blackberry flavor, a touch of vanilla and a velvety finish. A bit one-dimensional for the price, but a pleasant drinker. Needs a bold meal like braised short rib as a pairing.
