A wine that never disappoints with a full body and complex bouquet of Golden Delicious apple, orange blossom, and lychee nuts on the attack and a finish of apple baking spices, lanolin, lemon curd and cream. A glycerine feel glides across the palate providing weight and richness. Layers of flavor that deliver with every sip. Both this and the Antica Terra Chardonnay drain quickly with the edge given to the Antica Terra. Made from 100% Roussanne. 13.5% alc. With cheeses (Moses Sleeper and Alpine Blossom) as the Smileys join us for Bob Cuozzi’s visit. Recommended.

Paired with herb-roasted chicken, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Medium light body, fresh nose, vibrant flavor and good acidity and tropical finish. This is my first California Roussanne and I will certainly look for more from Stolpman. Nice work!

Not Your Average Varietal (Amy & Scott's): A small pour at a tasting. This was surprisingly simple and inoffensive. Typically, Roussanne is complex and provocative.

Will's Birthday (Local Wine Kitchen, SF): Roussanne from Sashi Moorman. Chardonnay-like. Rich and viscous, with oak and strong acidity to balance it out. There's a hint of bitterness, but it's not phenolics like I'd expect from Marsanne - it seems to be normal bitterness from oak aging. Well-integrated oak. It's like a rich California Chardonnay but more mineral and non-fruit driven. Stones, stained wood furniture, refined nutty integrated wood. Long. This is great stuff. Score: Around 9.
