Inky ruby. Cedar, earth and plum nose. Medium to full bodied, blackberries, dry tannins, sage, black cherries, a bit of smoke, and a long finish. Excellent, with a lot of time left to enjoy.

What a pleasant surprise. This was given to me as a gift so I only have one bottle. Opened and decanted for four hours. Wonderful balance of blackberries, currants with finely grained and balanced tannin. The finish is a little short keeping it out of the "great wine" category. Given the previous ratings, I felt it had improved in the bottle. Not sure how long the fruit and tannin will marry so well; I would drink in the next few years. Great effort for 2011 California...the best I have had of this vintage.

Did not decant. Beautiful nose of ripe blackberries, black currant, plums, baking spices and an herbal component. A little austere initially with restrained fruit and some grippy tannins, but it opened up as the night progressed. Definitely an old world style. I probably opened this way too young, but I was curious. Very enjoyable though.
