Upon opening super silky from aging. One hour into it-loads of plum flavors, no spice or vegetal notes like most carmeneres. Two hours later it had huge tannins and was losing fruit.
very well done. picked up at airport in costa rica years ago.

Well someone finally managed to do a decent Carmenere! It reminded me of the 1994 Pride Merlot I had a few months ago. Powerful nose with ripe fruits, cherry, plum, chocolate and coffee. Full body (only 13.5% though), med - acidity, velvety, still quite some grip with ripe tannins, same as on the nose with an impressive long finish.

Dark color which contrasted with its mild raspberry, blackberry and chocolate essence. Reminds me of soft velvet in the mouth (OK, weird analogy) but this wine was almost light and creamy with a great finish. This was a fantastic Carmenere and in many ways unique to the heavy handed American blends I sometimes drink. I suppose that this is the nicest reasonably priced Carmenere I've ever had and well worth keeping on hand for those guests and times you would prefer light balance over hedonistic deep purple juice.
Decent value as well.

1st night was creamy, almost chalky thus disappointing but the second night - oh boy! I hear shades of "What a difference a day makes...24 little hours." Nose of dark sweet cherries, boysenberry and current. At the very end I did catch the mint and cola notes. Indeed, no green/vegetal notes in this at all. Nice mouthfeel and finish. Threw some sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
