  • Luminous, moderately translucent black cherry color. Youthful, fresh and lively nose with somewhat sweet-toned and a bit one-dimensional aromas of brambly strawberries, some wild strawberries and a hint of black cherries. The wine is medium-bodied, silky and somewhat soft on the palate with dry, fruit-forward and slightly mild flavors of crunchy cranberries, tart lingonberries and a hint of sour cherry bitterness. The wine is lacking a bit structure with its medium acidity and its ripe modest-to-medium tannins. The finish is long, somewhat bitter and quite fruit-forward with a bit underwhelming flavors of crunchy dark berries, some wild strawberries and a hint of sweeter dark fruits.

A somewhat underwhelming and uninteresting Pinot Noir that feels slightly dilute and lacking in character and intensity. The wine comes across as quite simple and straightforward, lacking both in structure and complexity. Doesn't feel particularly interesting now and most likely hasn't got the stuffing to develop from here. Pass.

  • Grands Jours de Bourgogne 2014 Day 4: Young Talents, The Heart of Burgundy 3-20-14: Denser wine than Chantal, but anonymous? Ok, but....inelegant?
