  • Quite deep yet moderately translucent black cherry color. Somewhat restrained and a bit underwhelming nose with aromas of savory dark berries, licorice, a little bit of wild strawberry and a hint of earth. The wine is fresh, medium-bodied and more expressive on the palate with flavors of ripe dark berries, sour cherry bitterness, some juicy dark fruits, a little bit of crunchy cranberries, a hint of tart and tangy lingonberry skin and a touch of smoke. The wine is quite high in acidity with moderately firm and grippy tannins, yet the mouthfeel is surprisingly smooth and silky. The finish is long, somewhat grippy and quite spicy with flavors of tart lingonberries, sour cherry bitterness, some crunchy dark berries, a little bit of peppery spice and a hint of sweet dark fruit.

A nice and balanced red Burgundy with slightly underwhelming nose. Overall a quite pleasant everyday Pinot Noir that is drinking nicely now but might continue to develop from here - although based on my experience on older Cuvées Gerard, this wine often just loses its fruit yet keeps its tough structure, so maybe there's not much point in aging this wine much further. Drink now or in the near future.
