  • Luminous, moderately translucent black cherry color. Savory nose with aromas of licorice, autumnal tones of sous-bois, some developed dried cherry tones, a hint of barnyard and a touch of peppery spice. The wine is ripe, smooth and silky on the palate with flavors of tart dark berries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of salty liquorice, light earthy tones and a hint of sous-bois. Despite its moderately fruity character, the wine feels a bit dull and slightly hollow. Overall the wine is nicely structured with high acidity and firm, moderately high tannins. The finish is dry, somewhat grippy and a bit dull with slightly dull, medium-long flavors of earthy spices, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of sous-bois and a hint of wizened dark berries.

A developed but also somewhat dull and underwhelming red Burgundy with somewhat distracting hollowness in the midpalate. There's some nice, rustic and slightly earthy Pinosity here, but it feels like the wine has started to lose some of its fleshy character, making it feel a bit too angular and tough without much balancing fruit character. Overall the wine is quite similar to the vintage 2007 that was somewhat similar in style with a bit more developed and slightly more hollow overall feel. Probably will be quite enjoyable with the right food that can tone down the structure and boost the fruit, but otherwise doesn't offer that much pleasure. High time to drink up.
