Surprisingly good for a 2001 varietal I found at Agrivino in Willamette Valley. Chocolate mocha and earth. Great balance and medium body. Even finish. Will be a great pair with Italian dishes.

soft red berries, tobacco notes and leather on the nose
brick red color, nebbiolo-esque
vinified in steel, racked into cement (where it undergoes Malo) for one yr, tonneaux for three, stainless steel for 4-6 yrs, then two additional in bottle
rusty and dusty, sweet tannin, spice. hits on all receptors. REALLY great.

Long macerations, 30 days, then 8 months in barrel, 50%, and only 1/3 new. And that kinda smells on the nose with a dark tobacco fruit. And savory and rich on the mid palate, solid tannin grip, well done certainly.
They used to sell to producers in Barolo to producers who wanted to "improve" their Barolo. Gets more powerful as it is open.
The wine name means slope of the falcon.
