  Balanced, feminine, good structured, and good length. A connoisseur's vintage. More on the austere side. Delicious.

  First bottle from this producer; the nose here is classic Gevrey with lovely dark fruits, sauvage, earth, and a bit of violet; there is a hint of spice and anise; the palate is more elegant than I expected, though there is still plenty of power and some structure here; the fruit is lovely on the palate with good spice and some sanguine hints; the structure actually seems to grow with oxygen and it tightens up some on the finish towards the end of the bottle. Overall I'd say this is an average grand cru if not slightly below average, but considering the price is less than many village wines and many 1er crus it is actually a very good value and I would definitely buy it again.

  Domaine Drouhin-Laroze visit in June 2014: At this point we moved on to the centre of the cellar which we immediately coined 'Grand Cru Boulevard'. The Chapelle-Chambertin was very bright and clear. It had just started malo. However the wine shows good florality (mainly dark florals) and elegance. There is a smooth, almost sweet entry. It has crunchy and rich fruit and is velvety in the mouth. This has good balance already and the tannins are very fine. Not a big wine, but very poised. Good core of fresh fruit. The wine has a detailed, not a linear, flavour profile. Finishes on mineral notes.
