decanted for 90 mins... I thought this pretty open and pleasant (vis a vis some other notes)... someone said "modern" -- what I would say is more fruity than earthy / spicy... very pleasant to me, but not a barn burner... 91-92 pts... this fits with Chapelle Chambertin in my view... I often find these wines 'easy going'

89-90pts

Removed cork for 1hour + 1 hour in carafe ... very hard finish. Unpleasant. After 2 hours in carafe, the wine opens nicely. The finish is smooth and pleasant. Faint dark fruit aromas but still pleasant.

Nose: vanilla, gamey, minty, peppery Palate: quite rich fruit, vanilla, mineral tone in middle, spicy finished, quite one dimension and modern, not much change in the course of drinking. Ready now.

Drouhin Laroze, M. Ilan, old Sauternes & Ports (JV's): OTOH, I thought this rocked above my expectations. Ruby/purple in color. The nose is full with cherries, some cherry liqueur and a bit of damp forest floor notes. Nice texture. Cherries and the liqueur notes continue to the palate bringing some heat as well. In spite of that, this is delicious and drinking well right now. It did get better as the night went on.
