I would loved to have had this wine 2-3 years ago! The fruit isn’t really there now, though glimmers of cherries peep through.
Beautifully savoury, with notes of earth, smoke, and wet woodpile. Powdery tannins keep this wine alive, great structure. A graceful fall from its recent peak! Drink now.

I’ve always liked this wine and this bottle is no exception. The nose has turned distinctly earthy to complement the dark cherry fruit. The is a linear feel to the wine that suggests little winemaker dressing. All is quite good though the finish is a bit clipped. No green. A note of cinnamon comes with air. Very nice. (91)

2004 is probably the least attractive vintage of the last 15 years, but occasionally turns up a delight. De Montille's Les Pezerolles is fantastically reliable and turns out to be one of those 2004 delights. This example is a bit more 'earthy' than usual and couldn't quite match the '04 Clos des Epenbeaux for sheer class, but it's still an immensely satisfying Burgundy. Recommended. Estimated maturity: Now to 2020.

Quick taste at a party - very nice wine. showing no green - good fruit and earthy complexity. Drinking very well today. One of the better '04's I have tasted. (92)

The wine looks garnet colored. It smells like strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, mushroom and toast.
