  • Our last bottle, popped and poured. While this was still drinking well 5 years ago, it has lost its fruit and is in decline. A solid wine at its peak, and an emotional wine for us, this one is in decline and should be drunk up quickly. B-

  • Decanted very briefly off its sediment. Pale ruby color. Bright cherry fruit dominates, with a prominent earthy undertone. Good acidity, with cherry and earth tones on the palate.

  • Medium ruby with brickish edges - it looked older than 6+ years. The nose opened up a bit with some air, and had berry fruit, faded flowers and leather notes. It had a gentle attack with moderate size and fully resolved tannins. Some earth and faded berry character on the palate, with some acidity but a finish that slowly faded. A nice village wine, and no green notes.

  • This being my last bottle, I threw it in as a "ringer" in a tasting of American 04-05 Pinot's - not with big boy Americans, but with 7 others that were in the $40-60 price range. Interestingly almost all picked it out as the ringer. It had the same bright fruit of the Americans, but a soil component that was pretty obvious, but not in an offensive way. I think that his I had more of this, it will go another 5-8 years, and may even get better, but it was very nice tonight. At the price I paid, it turned out to be a very good bargain. I think the 04 Burg vintage is very underrated in general.

  • Nice expressive nose. Easy drinking, with plenty of ripe cherry. An easy wine to serve right now and would go well before or with food. Will appeal to a wide audience of pinot drinkers. Would consume over the next few years. B+
