Wow this was a monster; several 2020 reds I tasted on a recent trip to Burgundy give me some hesitation about continuing to buy them and this was one; incredibly dark color with a massive nose of dark fruits, spice, and earth. Day one it was literally overwhelming and undrinkable for me so I corked it and tasted again after 24 hours. It did improve significantly which gives me some hope about development potential. The nose freshened to show more red fruit and earth and the palate definitely developed an improved bit of freshness. Still extremely tannic and powerful and this is just a village cuvee! I generally like the Trapet wines a lot so this was somewhat of a surprise. If you are planning to buy this it is going to need a minimum of a decade and probably longer to really come into balance. Not sure...

During a 2020 Burg walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. The vintage showed very well indeed for both reds and whites. The reds were dense, fresh with good structure like the 2016, the whites pure with good fruit core similar to 2019 and definitely more refined than the plush 2018. TN: This was a step up from the normal Gevrey Village. More aromas with subtle farmyard, red fruit, spice.

Belle bouteille. 91-92 pts
