Loaded with rose petals and Indian spice. The palate is quite rich and heady, with an unctuous feel and some dried fruit and baked earth flavours. There are wild herb notes and plenty of spice to the back-end. It has real balsamic lift to the finish.

Much better than my last bottle, this has benefitted from a few months of bottle rest. The fine sediment has settled out, leaving a pale, translucent amber-ruby wine, which despite the color, has a nose much more youthful than its 55 years. Floral, red-fruited and laced with cigar leaf and forest floor, with lively acidity and a lingering, tart finish.

I'm not sure if this bottle was representative of others' experiences, but this was my first of several bottles from a recent auction purchase, advertised as "excellent color and condition," with base neck fills. The cork was short but in great condition, barely saturated and coming out intact. The color was pale brick-brown, with some haziness. When first opened, there was a whiff of stale feet which fortunately blew off. The flavors are better and more youthful than the color and nose would indicate, with delicate aged Nebbiolo flavors of tart cherry, raspberries, leather and anise, on a light to medium frame, with fully resolved tannins. I'll have to open another bottle soon to see if the color is representative or not, as other CT tasters reported little to no bricking, and this was fully bricked.

fully bricked amber color, faded nose with tertiary hints of dark spice and cherry, on the palate faded but fully intact and well balanced with whispers of bright cherry fruit, bramble, and a genteel dark forest floor note, this is past peak but drinkable and remarkable for maintaining such good balance as its elements fade- usually at this point even many once great wines are getting excessively acidic and hard, but all rounded edges and savory nuances here, good finish with no excesses.
