Opened and partially decanted an hour before drinking. Dusty notes, dark fruit but dry earth and a little spice. Enjoyable and well made, especially for a Barolo at this price point.

This is showing signs of blossoming into a drinkable maturity and may well become a bit of a stunner in years to come. Hints of coffee and tar demonstrate for me typical Barolo characteristics. Look forward to revisiting.

DRC blind night. Wine to wrap up the awesome night. Poured into decanter and drank over 1 hour. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of Bovril meat extract, tar, floral rose, sour red cherries, licorice, menthol. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of deep sour red cherries, ripe strawberries, soil earth, licorice, menthol. Long finish. Very good quality. Drinking well already, but built to last well another 6-7 years for sure. A blend of Pira's 3 Serralunga d'Alba plots of Marenca, Margheria, and Vigna Rionda.

Last bottle of this, moving on to the 2016’s. Seemingly mature now with a well rounded mellow finish, perhaps a tad neutral.

Seemingly mature certainly mellow, perhaps a tad too mellow but such easy drinking with no vices.
