  • What a fascinating wine. I remember thinking it was distinctive when I bought it at Grgich in 2002. Now, in 2013, it still has a lot of life and a lot of complexity for a very non-traditional wine. A little barnyard have way to a blackberry and currant pie and a sweet, herbal note followed by a sense of burnt raisin. Not much oakiness or vanilla. Still firm tannins and a long but thin finish that goes along with the taut acidity but overall medium body. Not spectacular by any means but a fun novelty and a very nuanced wine.
