  • At home. Poured into decanter. Drank over 1.5 hours.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of carob, earth, pepper spice, dried red cherries, sweet red plum, blueberry, black cherries. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol (15.1%), puckery high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of dried red cherries, sweet red plums, blueberry, black cherries, red earth clay, carob cocoa powder, pepper spice. Long finish.
Very good quality. Tannic beast. Though it's full of allure that draws you in to take another sip, with the earth and spice strongly supporting the more than ample fruit. You don't even get the alcohol heat if you aren't paying that much attention at the end because of the fruity yet earthy long finish.
Still going strong. Could develop over the next 3-4 years definitely. Lovely juice from the legendary Mike Grgich. Grapes selected from the best vineyards in Dingač and Postup on the Pelješac peninsula.
My favourite grape varietal out of Croatia for sure. Brings back fond memories of the time in Rovinj and Istria (although this is from a lot further South).
