Decanted for an hour. Absolutely fantastic now, with a nose of perfumey lingonberry, refined and elegant. The palate is dark and brooding with strong tannins. This a power wine, but with an elegance, not brute force. Perfect with a mushroom pie and grilled deer sausages.

Luminous, moderately translucent black cherry color. Very ripe and sunny nose typical of the variety, showing aromas of sweet dark fruits, some plum compote, a little bit of pruney character, sweet hints of blueberry-driven dark berries, a touch of dried fig and a whiff of alcohol. The wine is dense, full-bodied and chewy on the palate with rich, sunny and slightly sweet-toned flavors of wizened dark plums, some jammy dark berries, light raisiny fruit, a little bit of boysenberries, a hint of alcohol and a touch of strawberry-driven red fruit. The wine is impressively structured with its very pronounced, tough and grippy tannins and quite high acidity. The alcohol makes the wine feel a bit warm. The finish is very grippy and tannic with some alcohol warmth and rich, slightly sweet flavors of juicy strawberries, pruney dark fruits, some dense jammy dark berry tones and a hint of raisiny fruit.
A big, juicy and enjoyably ripe Plavac Mali that shows the typical, slightly dried-fruit characteristics of the variety without getting too hot or raisiny. Overall the wine is enjoyably pure and well-delineated with emphasis solely on the ripe fruit, not on any oak. As the wine feels very bright and youthful with impressively stern structure, it is easy to promise a lot of aging potential for the wine. There's no hurry to open these babies.
