Over the hill. The wine collapsed after being open 1 hr, with the fruit fading away to dry tannins and oxidized "fruit". Too bad, it was nice at the start, showing blueberry, olive, and leather. Note that this was recently purchased online, so storage conditions were unknown. The cork split upon opening. Disappointing.

Purchased from winery in 10/2011 and stored in my cellar since. Opened 30 minutes before dinner (grilled Filet Mignon) but did not decant. Tobacco, cherry, red currants, earthy nose. Cassis, blackberry, coffee grinds, earthy on palate. Medium body, medium+ acids, tannins still there on the long finish. This took some time to open up and improved with air (I would not decant other than for sediment). Originally I wrote 91 but moved it to 92. The fruit was brighter than I expected given the age. I really enjoy Seavey Merlots.

Popped and poured for dinner. Gorgeous ruby red at the center, lightening out to a light tawny colored rim. Throwing down quite a sediment at this point. The nose is fruit-backward, with notes of coffee, moist soil, and figs, followed by candied black fruits of plums an ripe cherries. The wine is light to medium bodied, with a sweet tannin structure, giving way to flavors of wonderfully elegant and feminine cassis, plum, coffee grounds, and chalky minerality. a beautifully mature example of a well aged Californian Merlot with perfect provenance. Seavey is good at more than just Cabernet. Drink this now, will likely be on the decline soon.

Cedar. Dark, black fruit. Great balance -- a long way to go.

Earth tones predominantly over fruit notes. Seems to have peaked and is on it's way down.
