  • As detailed in the UC Press's Rioja book, it was a bumpy road for this bodega during this era, but this bottle was a really fine 1982 and a nice value. My bottle was a bit more elegant and less rustic than the one described in the (excellent) prior note. A classic example of traditional aged Rioja from a terrific vintage that is drinking superbly now.

  • A soulful and rustic rendition. Not the prettiest or most elegant. The nose is a little dirty - earth and leather and some mustiness that made me think of the black mold of LdH's Haro cellars. But the palate was lively and full of sweet dark cherries, mellow wood tones, and mouth-watering acids.
