  • There is no other bottle in my cellar I have eyed for longer, none that I have thought more about, not just because it may be the best birth year wine ever made in my vintage but also because of the legendary stature of the vineyard. At last, I was able to design an evening that would showcase it appropriately, and it did not disappoint. If not youthful in appearance, it was closer to that than to its actual age (perhaps like its owner?). Rich fig, smoke, tea leaf and peppery aromatics. Sweet but deft, viscous and mouthcoating, brimming with a vibrancy I cannot easily describe. The finish may still be ongoing. Not scored due to my inexperience with Port, but off the charts emotionally. If there is a better one out there, I would be privileged to encounter it. In the meantime, how fortunate I am to have tried my dream wine and found it to meet and exceed expectations.

  • OMG. Super powerful on the palate, dense palate feel, wonderful long finish, more fruit and spices.

  • This was sheer perfection. So fresh and intense, loaded with red fruits. Rich and spicy, intense and layered. Cut with beautiful floral spirit. Such presence, power and authority without an ounce of fat. Incredible drive and length with licorice flavours that linger on and on.

  • The 63 Nacional defies age, its rich blueberry, plum, and ink remarkably dense and potent. There’s a spirity element, but this is so rich and boasts such good acid that it works. The finish lasts forever - fig, blueberry, ink, espresso. Amazingly, this isn’t fully ready. About 14 hours later, this is more elegant but less dynamic, less impactful.

  • The Los Angeles Tasting (Los Angeles, CA): Bottled by Hedges & Butler. Dark amber in color. Asian spice and cinnamon on the nose. Really nice, lush mouthfeel with red fruit and some light spice on the palate. Good acidity with red fruit and some spice on the finish.
