Medium-bright ruby red color, with a hint of purple. On the nose, the fruit is very high-toned and bright—cranberries and raspberries. There is also a distinctly green character of stems and leafiness. That's pretty much it, apart from maybe a faint sweet, perfumed floral note. On the palate, it's more interesting to me. It's still quite green, with fruit flavors of underripe or barely ripe red berries. But the stemmy character from the nose makes more of an herbal, woodsy impression that I find evocative and pleasant. The tannin is moderate and it has a nice satiny texture, and I wouldn't say it is hugely acidic or offputtingly tart as I feared it might be. A bit astringent on the finish, but even that seems in keeping with the character of the wine.
Definitely an unusual one, but I ended up enjoying it.

2.5hr decant. Nose doesn't give much away, but subtle tyre rubber? Herbs too, slightly resinous scent. On taste a slightly tart redcurrant and bitter herb. Interesting. G 89, F 88!

PDO Amyndeo, Xinomavro 2017 sourced from 690m. high altitude single vineyard, 12month oak & 12month bottle maturation. Used both Wine Breather & Vinturi aeration. Subtle but developing gastronomic scents of black olive tapenade, sundried tomato paste, dried oregano, eucalyptus. Lean & nervous mouthfeel of lively med acids, polished med tannins on med body. Sour gourmet palate, tomato, olive, thyme with feral, ham & white pepper flavors on powerful long exit.

as others have noted, a tartness on the finish. Perhaps to be consumed with a sweet type of dish?
