This note is from a bottle opened 72+ hours ago, and 75% of the volume has been missing since since then. It was left unrefrigerated. It was really nice when first opened, but it has improved so much with lots of air. What a wine!
Ebullient, billowing and soaring nose, so deep and complex: apple jelly, quince, citrus candy, big honeysuckle and rose notes, a little dried grass and linden, a little minty herbs and citrus pith, ... textured and soft upfront, then it turns mineral and a little herbal, then the apple and flowers takes over... an apple and honeysuckle blossom levitate in perfect harmony, then lightly grippy fruit skin notes linger beautifully as everything fades. Flippin' gorgeous...
Still worth saving for many years, and apparently you should decant this for many hours if serving now, or open it 3 days in advance! Dontcha just love great Riesling?

Kraters for the trenchermen (Les 2 Garçons): Magnum. Absolutely in the zone - drinking beautifully. Sensual, creamy nose, with notes of rose petal and quince. Delightfully piquant on the palate, like green mango, with a silky texture, just enough sugar, and a very long finish. Great wine.

Gentle. Apple, lime peel, honeysuckle, ginger, minerals. Just a touch of sweetness. Very long green plum aftertaste with a distant hint of tangerine. I wonder if there may be more complexity in this wine waiting to emerge at some later point?

I thought I wrote a review before....anyways about a year ago I scored a few bottles of this 2014 from of all places a supermarket....I know, not the best storage condition possibly. As another reviewer pointed out, there are problems with the cork. One bottle had a leaky cork after storing it horizontally in my cellar, and luckily I caught it in time. Opened it and the reduction was a bit too much at first. I don't remember much about that bottle except it was not the greatest experience. However my last one popped open last night was rather dreamy. Honey, apple, pear, peach, a signature hint of smokiness, and even for a Kabinett the amount of residual sugar was just right with plentiful acidity and sufficient dryness that held up to a variety of Cantonese banquet food. Those at the dinner in the know, knew how great this was. As time went back after about 2 hours, the acidity and tartness were more prominent, which would have been even better with the roast pork and suckling pig (which by then was too late we had all finished). The JJP paired relatively better for a rich tasting lamb belly claypot than this 2016 California Cabernet Sauvignon which was just terrible to me in terms of pairing. How I wish it were easier to find aged JJP of any type....

Another leaking cork, but I don’t think it affected the wine.
It was rather watery upon first opening but it gained flavour about an hour later.
