Decanted an hour before dinner (a bit longer would have been better). On the nose a fight between dark berries, sour cherries and tertiary notes, not clear which gets the winner. On the palate powerful with still lots of edges but also with good depth and a long finish.
Classic Pomerol from a warm and dry vintage at the beginning of its maturity. Was superb with a selection of French cheese, has still a long life ahead (till 2035+ if correctly stored), 92+.

This is really very good. All you could hope for from a Pomerol. Drank 2 bottles at La Trompette after a 3 hour decant with F, X & The MIL. Totally resolved and delicious. Sophisticated. Very slight bottle variation, with one having a very, very slight wiff of mould (but not corked).

A 2 hour decant opens this up well. It has quite dense plum/blackberry fruit, with more savoury, meaty notes and a slightly roasted character. Last tasted 3 years ago, this is now reasonably mature and undoubtedly a fine wine which will keep for 5 to 10 years.

Beautiful aged and in a very nice drinking window right now. I had a few bottles over the last decade and this is probably the most enjoyable so far. The bouquet has dark berries, some vanilla, Périgord truffles, tobacco leaves and some umami notes. The palate is medium to full bodied with mellowed, but still present tannins. No need too hurry here, I guess this will drink beautiful for another decade.
