Delicate and subtle dark fruit, traces of red and touch of spice. There is more going on with the palate but it is very much and exercise in restraint and finesse. I’d drink soon.

Casual Burg Dinner with Friends (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Popped and poured. Red and black cherry throughout with moderate spice. Moderate density, perhaps borderline Grand Cru caliber, but very good balance start-to-finish. In its peak drinking window, but this will drink nicely for a decade+.

A pretty nose giving up green asparagus, new oak, in addition to bright red cherry and some soily tones. Unfortunately there was something to be desired on palate, somehow flat or hollow without much of the fruit or earth suggested by the aromas. Touches of iron, black teas, and some menthol in the dark cherry. The wine was much better after 90+ minutes although everyone was a little let down.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Served double blind to tasting group. Red and black fruit aromas and flavors with modest spice, not easily recognizable as Vosne/ Echezeaux. Good balance of earthy elements and fruit. I popped, decanted and poured 30 minutes later. Wine was better several hours later.

The first of two bottles bought at a 30% discount six years ago. Aged Pinot colour. Rather disappointing faint nose of cherries, and initially slightly flat on the palate, but clearly very long with some complexity. It developed to a cherry kernel and slightly spiced well balanced wine. A grand old lady past her prime (if she ever reached it) but still an enjoyable mouthful. Thank goodness for that discount!
