Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 93.7 points

  • Telltale wholecluster nose - palate is restrained, a bit coiled up and a bit watery/dilute though it is no indictment of the product, just a sign this is being caught too early in its life. Mostly potential now. Not to be be opened before 5+ years for maximum expression

  • Quite restraint nose. Lots of dry earthy notes paired with soft red and dark berry notes on the palate. Fruit was a bit hidden. Nice structure though. Good complexity and a nice overall balance. (IG)

  • Tasted along with a 17’ Gerard Mugneret Echezeaux. Fairly reserved aromatics both when initially poured and tasted with the group. The palate however, was a tour de force. Sinewy, lacy, and textured, but definitely better density than the Gerard Mugneret. Brilliant in how “together” this wine is, the bold but elegant blue fruit impression recalls of a lighter framed Roumier Bonne Mares. Love the balance of sweetness, freshness, and depth to this wine. Echezeaux is known for showing itself early in its evolution and this is very much like that, though there’s also a brooding nature here, with some darker fruit mixed in that promises of its excellent potential. From the Les Rouges du Bas climat. My wine of the night.

  • Served blind, this was wine of the night. The most complete, with abundant black and blue fruits. Silky and accessible, with ample potential for future development.

  • So expressive, with a beautiful perfume of rose petal, sandalwood, cherries, root vegetables and earth. It is deep and layered, with a velvety feel. There’s fabulous detail and a finish that fans out and drives on and on. Brilliant wine.
