  • Deep cherry in colour, intensely floral on the nose. The first few sips unveil notes of blackberry, milk chocolate and plum, perhaps with a touch of cinnamon also? Grippy dry tannins, this is a full bodied shiraz with a medium oak finish. Delicious.

  • 30122023 - end year celebration lunch/dinner at home with wife’s friends. My last bottle. A crowd pleaser with the hubbies of all the wives

  • 17012023 - Aussie themed lunch at Noble Mansion. My bottle to compare horizontally to the great Grange from bro Hann Sze. Well made shiraz from a well known producer in Barossa. Rich plum & black fruit, fruitcake notes, nicely developing some chocolate nibs layered with faint hint of cloves. Refined & supple with polished tannins. Enjoyable finish with plenty of dark fruit as it backbone

  • All of us guessed wrong in E's super bottle, served to us blinded and even the bottle was swapped!

Nose is floral with strong intent that this is a serious wine; Dense colour with equally bold finish on the palate at first hit. Most interestingly, I found the tannins slightly dusty but in a good way making the wine slightly mysterious! I love the dry finish, and peppery notes too which led me to guess Cab Sauv, perhaps Super Tuscan Bdx Blend!

Dense blackberry notes ❤️ M guessed Italian Sangiovese, then with his 2nd guess.. Cab Sauv. I thought so too, and it seems there are as many similarities as there are differences between the 2 varietals!

Cab has generally higher acidity, with a fuller and more pronounced finish. Syrah or Shiraz on the other hand, may be more smooth and elegant. Think it's time for more bottles of both for me to get it!!

Finish is medium to long, and the quality of the French and American oak barrels used for maturation is apparent. Seems the wines are also bottle matured for a further 3 years after.

Definitely a serious and flagship Wine of Grant Burge. The origins of Meshach stem from Meschach Burge who is the great grandfather of founder Grant Burge, who made the Barossa Valley his home in 1855.

So many thoughts about this bottle which happened to be my thirst-quencher after 600km on the road for the better part of the day.. really needed a tipple!

  • Quite exceptional! Red fruit, milk chocolate and a beautiful glowing nose makes this quite divine.

It's layered complexity (as did Tenuta CdN also a 2013) made it difficult for anyone to figure out what it was at our big dinner in Tang Room with visiting Chien.

2013 Barossa was described as the driest and quickest, lending itself to age worthy wines.

Guess my Vivino buddies were surprised I would pick an Aussie, but I am gradually learning this year and developing respect for its Shirazs!
