Tasted this at Cellarbration's Australian Wine Masterclass featuring wines from Frankland Estate. Was told by the winemaker that Robert Parker once remarked this wine as the Cheval Blanc of Australia.
Amazing nose, bordering on being seductive. Amazing freshness for a wine which is almost 10 years old. Plums, blackcurrants, graphite, bell pepper with some rustic and dusty notes coupled with an uplifting spirit and energy. Excellent balance and mouthfeel. Beautiful and poetic.
Complex with layers and dimensions. What is outstanding about this wine is that it doesn't do too much or work too hard to impress. It simply does.
Wine is currently on the up and should take another 5 to 10 years before reaching its peak. Can't wait to try this wine again.

Purple and young looking with dark plum, dust and Aussie brush. The palate is medium bodied with sappy, sour black cherry, bell pepper, some freeness and a chalky finish. Interesting and very enjoyable wine.

Grand Cru Cabernet (pyrmont wharf, sydney): Cream and earth (?) over perfumed ripe red tending to black currant and pencils shavings backed by sweet spice. Aniseed and liquorice in the mouth over dark savoury fruit, slightly astringent on the back palate. The tannins are quite contained. Okay.

Balanced and classy nose. Intensity build through the palate and although a 'clean' structure it is clear there is intent to infuse an old world character (and a capacity for serious aging). Some green tinges and spice contribute to very good length and BDX-like gamey mouthfeel. Needs plenty of rest.

Great Southern Expo (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street): Tobacco and red fruit in balance with fresh herbs and plums leading to a chalky tannin palette that is very drinkable.
