100% Zinfandel, 14.75% ABV. Decanted for about 30 mins, concentrated black cherry, toasty oak, lots of baking spices, and something slightly herbal just underneath the others. Palate mirrors the nose, with the addition of a sturdy mineral streak down the middle, bright acidity, and a lots of baking spices on the finish. Wonderful!
24 hours later, with about a glass left in the bottle after refrigerating and coming back up to temperature, basically the same, but it has softened slightly, mineral streak isn't quite as strong, and the acid slightly reduced.
This wine was described as "fruit forward" by Mauritson, however, it is very balanced, not flabby or overripe in the slightest. The tannins are present adding a little bit of structure, but you could probably drink this with a small bit of gouda cheese or on its own without batting an eye.

This was rich, velvet, fruit and acid balanced, and just a smile in each sip.

The nose is dark & spicy. Maybe clove. Great acid. Medium plus complexity and finish. Raspberry/blackberry/strawberry. Young.
