I'd say this is as good as it is going to get before it fades a bit, but that's very good indeed. Smooth as can be, lighter on its feet than I had remembered. The secondary flavors are light spices rather than tobacco and leather. The fruit is integrating into a harmonious whole, with plums and berries in a nice compote. No heat at all, moderate finish. Last bottle, so we move onto other vintages and other vineyards.

Father's Day dinner. Paired with tri-tip in a Cuban marinade. This is on the Bordeaux end of Zin, not huge and jammy, with some still-puckering tannins. Rich and voluptuous. A little cinnamon, but this about layers of fruits that rise one after another through the structure. Aging into a really beautiful wine.

Interesting wine. Not much bouquet at all which makes you think that the palate will be thin too. You are suprised! Wonderful full bodied Zin with just the right spice and minerals. Finish with acidity that is a bit unbalanced. Might need to decant.

Deep dark and complex for a Zin. A fun wine and I am sorry this is our last!

Napa-Noma, May 2008: 15.5% ABV. Chalkier nose than the other Zins. Some spice. More tannin. Tight at this stage.
