Medium red with signs of age. Medium intense, aged blackberry fruit, even a bit savory. Very nice medium weight earthy berry and mint flavours and a balanced finish.
Nothing here seems out of balance. Not a ripe monster at all.

Cork was soaked through. Opened with an ah-so, but definitely smelled off. Almost opened something else, but let it breathe for awhile on faith. And sure enough, the difficult smells blew off. Not the greatest vintage of Rattlesnake I've had, but worth drinking.

Dinner at Barnett during PNV week, spectacular setting and hosts. It was fun to check in on this wine at 20 years old. From Magnums...drank over 2+ hours. Had this next to the 13 Rattlesnake
Dark purple color. Nose of black fruits, flint and anise. Black cherry, dried herbs, blueberry, violet, vanilla. Medium body and finish.
Rattlesnake, in my experience is a big wine which takes several years to settle in. This is the oldest example I have tasted, elegantly aged reflecting a well made wine
